Adopt-a-Village Update
During the 2006 - 2007 academic year, GMS joined Free the Children's Adopt-a-Village campaign and raised money to build a school in the Maasai region in Kenya. Children, parents, teachers and the community worked together throughout the year, participating in various fundraising activities, and successfully raised over $12,000!
This past academic year, an additional $4,500 was raised to provide educational materials for the school in Kenya.
In the coming year, we wish to broaden our fundraising efforts to help the local population of the Kenyan village where the school is located by raising money to provide clean drinking water and sanitation systems. Fundraisers for the Free the Children's Clean Water campaign will take place throughout the year.
Each GMS class also financially "sponsors" a child through the Foster Parents Plan. All classes communicate with their sponsored child and family, learning more about different cultures and assisting others.
We hope you will join us in these endeavours.
