Our afterschool program offers children a wide variety of exciting learning opportunities at the end of the formal school day. Students have the opportunity to create personalized after-school programs to meet their interests and expand their horizons. Experts on a variety of subjects instruct the individual classes. Classes are held after school and run from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., with extended care available from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m.
Pick up service by GMS staff is available for students from Mutchmor, First Avenue and Corpus Christi schools.
Hip-Hop Dance ~
Our Hip Hop dance classes invigorate the body and refresh the mind! Don't worry if you've never danced before! Through dancing, students experience the integration of music and movement and release their imaginations!
Drama ~
This lively workshop introduces students to the world of theatre, where they engage in the art of improvisation, acting, movement and voice through various theatre games, poetry and music.
Ray's Reptiles Club ~
Ray's Reptile Zoo is bringing its dynamic, educational presentations to GMS! Hibernation, endangered animals, indigenous reptiles, and birds of prey are just some of the topics covered. This is a great opportunity for children to interact with and learn about these amazing creatures!
Fashion Design ~
This multi-facetted course teaches fashion design, sewing techniques, and pattern making to produce unique fashion creations. Toy models will be used to facilitate production while emphasizing design and implementation!
Creative Cooking ~
For the cooking novice or aficionado, our cooking classes, featuring "Dessert Madness" and "The Science of Cooking", are sure to delight one's gastronomic senses! Students will cover the basics, gain culinary expertise for a lifetime and have a ball creating delicious masterpieces!
Video Game Design ~
Imagination in motion! Learn how to make your own video games and strategize game levels. Students will acquire programming skills and learn the basics of game design.
Jewelry Making ~
Beaded crochet is a creative technique for making eye-catching jewelry. Beading, stranding, knotting and wire-working are utilized to create necklaces, bracelets, earrings and more!
Self-Defense - Martial Arts ~
Our Master instructors train students in the art of self-defense, improving their strength, coordination, self-confidence, discipline and overall fitness.
Film Creation ~
Follow in the footsteps of Leonardo DiCaprio and become an actor/producer in your own motion picture. Discover how a movie is made from start to finish, and create your own scenery, props and costumes in this Hollywood-style Film Creation workshop.
Puppet Theatre ~
This fun-filled workshop introduces students to the world of the puppeteer, where they construct their own puppet theatre and choose different characters to create an entertaining show. At the end of the course, they can take their puppet theatres home to entertain friends and family.
Yoga ~
Our yoga classes help students build self-esteem, increase their concentration, and develop strong, healthy bodies through various exercises that keep them active and focused.
Cartooning ~
Students will create animation characters and backgrounds, and produce their own cartoon stories in this entertaining workshop.
Knitting and Crochet ~
Students learn all about knitting and crocheting through easy-to-accomplish projects, such as scarves, hats, bags etc. As students develop their talents, projects will become more advanced to suit their individual skill levels. A knitting certificate will be presented to all students at the end of the workshop.
Floor Hockey ~
Get involved in one of Canada's most popular sports - floor hockey! Learn the rules of the game, increase skill levels, enjoy the camaraderie of teammates, and most important, have fun while playing this exciting sport.
